”The Most Elegant Bar on The Islands” is Our Badge of Honour…and happy to announce its new – and very fitting – name.
We recently received the ultimate compliment from a visitor to Turks and Caicos. After exploring numerous other resorts, they declared ours “the most elegant bar on the island.” This accolade speaks volumes, as our bar at The Regent Grand is designed to evoke elegance, offering guests an array of enchanting, traditional, bubbly, or robust beverages.
Recently, we launched a contest among our owners to find a fitting name for this refined social hub, which led to an array of meaningful and historically rich submissions:
- Whitby Bar: Named after one of North Caicos’ first settlements
- Hutchings Bar: Honouring Grace Jane Hutchings, the namesake of Grace Bay
- Galleons Bar: Celebrating the full-rigged ships of the 15th and 16th centuries
- La Providentielle Bar: Commemorating the original name of Providenciales, given by survivors of an 18th-century French shipwreck before the Spanish renamed it
- Taino Bar: A tribute to the Taino Indians, among TCI’s earliest inhabitants.
- Lucayan Bar: Named for another group of early TCI inhabitants, meaning “people of the islands.”
The Winner: The Grand Bar
The winning name, The Grand Bar, was suggested by one of our esteemed residents. Here’s an excerpt from her submission:
“Overlooking the tranquil turquoise ocean, its Roman-inspired architecture exudes imperial grandeur with tall columns and opulent design. ‘The Grand Bar’ aligns seamlessly with the resort’s brand, evoking a sense of sophistication and luxury. The name not only mirrors the grandeur of the architecture but also hints at the lavish experience guests will indulge in”
This competition showcased the unique history and culture of Turks and Caicos, with each submission adding a layer to the rich tapestry that makes our island home so special.
The Grand Bar stands as a testament to this legacy, inviting guests to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of unrivalled elegance. I invite you to come and have a Grand time!
